WELCOME to our
FIRST GRADE PUZZLE
Sister Frances Hurley
Room 204
Like a PUZZLE, there are many
pieces to first grade learning.
Please browse the links below to find out more about the tools
we use in our classroom to expand our academic puzzle.
RELIGION
The spirtual growth of first
grade students continues as
we learn about how
God Loves Us. Children will
be active participants in living
and upholding the Christian
values of our Catholic faith.

LANGUAGE ARTS
First grade students will extend
their abilities in reading, phonics,
writing, spelling, & handwriting.
This is an exciting and busy year
as skills are expanded through a variety of
settings, enabling each student
to develop oral language and
communication skills that lead to
becoming independent readers
and writers.
|
MATHEMATICS
In our first grade classroom
math focuses on the development
and expansion of fluent skills
and conceptual understanding
in all areas, including addition
& subtraction facts, fact families,
money, time, measurements, and
geometry. Multiple hands-on
manipulatives are used.
